What is COVID-19?

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?  

Most people infected by the COVID-19 do not experience any symptoms but when they do, some of the common symptoms include;

  • Headache
  • Sore throat

In some, it causes more severe symptoms such as; 

  • Shortness of breath
  • Loss of appetite
  • Loss of smell 
  • Confusion 
  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
  • High temperature (above 38 °C)

People infected COVID-19 have been reported to have a wide range of symptoms – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may present itself between 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. 

How to protect yourself from getting infected 

Keep safe by adhering to safety precautions, such as;

  • Maintaining social distancing – 6 feet apart  
  • Avoiding crowded gatherings  
  • Wearing a mask that covers your nose and mouth when in the public or gatherings 
  • Avoiding spaces that are not properly ventilated  
  • Washing your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds, especially after visiting a public place
